This week with our Wonders program we will look at holidays and focus on the Essential Question of: Why do we celebrate holidays?
Although there will not be anymore spelling tests, we will be learning more “r-controlled vowels” with the spellings of: air, are, ear. fair, pair, bear, wear, spare, share Our high-frequency words are: favorite, surprise - - with exposure to: few, gone, wonder, young. We continue reviewing our learning from this year while we finish up on year-end assessments. We have a very busy week ahead of us: Monday: Reading Challenge - - outside for the afternoon Wednesday: Walking Field Trip to Northeast Café Thursday: Field Day - - outside all day We were rained out last Monday but tomorrow’s weather looks fantastic for our reading challenge. Here is the information again: New Boston Central School will be celebrating our Reading Challenge success! In a combined effort, over the last 12 weeks, our school has read 7,939 books and 34,340,136 words! The entire school will be walking down to the softball fields by the white buildings to celebrate our reading accomplishment. Classes will be reading with their reading buddies from 1:10 - 1:45 in the afternoon (in their designated area). PLEASE send in a few items to make the afternoon fun for your child and his/her reading buddy. Top on the list would be blankets and towels to lounge on while they read. It will be a sunny day - - please send in hats, sunglasses, and even umbrellas that can be propped up on their blankets, allowing them to read in some shade. We would like to thank the P.T.A. for sponsoring this event and supplying a keepsake prize for all of the students who joined in on the challenge! Field Day on Thursday will be an entire morning outside in the sun. Please put sunscreen on your child before they come to school. Have them wear sneakers, comfortable clothing, and a hat. Please send in an extra water bottle for your child. We are down to the final days for our seven eggs to be in the incubator. Mrs. Judd returned to our classroom on Friday. We “candled” all the eggs. Wow – the chicks are getting so big. Ask your child what they noticed about the eggs. The eggs are scheduled to hatch on Wednesday...there is so much excitement in the classroom.
