Below is our new and improved Remote Learning Bingo. These items will incorporate reading, writing, science, and mathematics in a creative way. Below the Bingo board is an explanation on how to do each activity.
Write a letter to a Nursing Home--People in Nursing Homes are not allowed to have visitors right now. You can write kind notes and draw them pictures! They would love some mail to share a smile!
Build a fort to read in--Either inside or in your yard, build a space where you can get comfortable with a good book!
Addition Top-it-- Each player will pull two cards at a time and add them. Whoever has the greatest sum gets to keep all of those cards!
ABC Photo Hunt-- take pictures or record on a note pad what you see both in your house or out in nature that starts with each letter of the alphabet! (A-ant, B-birds, C-crayons, D-driveway...and so on, all the way to Z!)
Moon Phase Observation--Each night, draw what the moon looks like! Notice the size, shape, and what side of the moon is illuminated (lit up).
Sight Word Bang with Popsicle Sticks-- Write each sight word on a Popsicle stick, and add in at least 5 sticks that say "BANG." Put all sticks in a cup. Each player pulls one stick at a time. If you say the word correctly, keep the stick. If you do not, put it back. If a player pulls BANG, all of their sticks go back into the cup! The Player with the most sticks wins!
Number Line Run-- With chalk, draw a number line that goes all the way to 30! You can use this line in many ways. One is to roll the dice and move that many spaces. The first to 30 wins. OR You can have a GO and a STOP player. When the GO player rolls, they move forward that many spaces. When the STOP player rolls, their opponent has to move back that many spaces. If the GO player reaches 30, they win. If the GO player does not reach 30, or is kicked back to zero, then the STOP player wins!
Animal Sighting Tally-- Each day you can pick a different animal if you'd like. Mark a tally each time you see that type of animal. For example, put a tally for every bird you see during the day! Count your tallies by the end of the day!
Sight Word Tower Build-- Write each sight word on a plastic or paper cup! Every word that is said correctly can be added to the tower! (knocking it down by the end is always fun too!)
Shadow Watch-- In the morning, draw a chalk outline of your shadow outside! Check back in on your shadow throughout the day, and see how it moves!
Skip Counting Exercises-- Choose a physical activity to do, and skip count your way through the exercise! I always recommend a type of exercise that is easy to count along with such as jumping jacks, high knees, and lunges!
Track the Sun--Draw a picture of your house! Choose three different times of the day to go outside and draw where the sun is! Figure out which direction it looks like it is moving in (but remember it is the Earth that is moving!)
Stick Sorting--If you have a bunch of sticks in your yard, or see many on a nature hike, collect them and sort them by length!
Sight Word Baseball-- If you make flashcards with your sight words, this activity will be easier. The "pitcher" will show the "hitter" a word. If it is said correctly, the hitter can move his/her player piece to 1st base, and so on until you get a home-run! This can be done on paper, or you can physically create bases to walk or run to at home!
Place Value Top-it-- Each player pulls two cards at the same time. Rearrange your cards in a way that one number is in the tens place, and one number is in the ones place. Whoever has made the largest number wins the cards. This can be done easily if you limit your deck from Ace to Nine.
Face Time Reading--Choose a friend or family member that is difficult to visit during this time. Read them a story, and share the smiles!
