Good Morning – Happy Friday
We will have two Zoom sessions today. 9:00 Math – review of 3-D shapes 11:00 Class Meeting – Mrs. Limondin is hoping to join us Wow – I have been SO IMPRESSED with the projects your children have been creating. The boats and bridges are amazing. Make sure you check them out in our Learning Gallery Week 8. Today’s assignments have been uploaded.
Our 9:00 math meeting will occur this morning as well as the 10:30 reading groups. You will have an activity that will focus on reading fluency. Please have your child read through the passage a few times. When they are comfortable with the passage, please record their reading on SeeSaw and submit. In math we will continue looking at 3-D shapes. We have another fun STEM activity for you. Go to Scholastic and check it out. Your assignments for Wednesday have been loaded. Check out Chapter 2 of Mrs. Buckley’s book.
For Wednesday you will be doing another STEM activity. Animals sometimes have trouble crossing things safely. Humans can help by building animal bridges! Pretend some animals need to be able to cross a stream, road, or big hole in the ground. Use blocks, boxes, sticks, or any other building materials you have to build a bridge to help the animals. You may create your bridge indoors or outdoors. If you are outside, can you build your bridge using all materials from nature? For Wonders you will be involved with your Reading Groups, an I Spy activity, and games reinforcing: Cause and Effect, High Frequency Words, Phonics. For Math you will be learning about 3-D shapes and then going on a Shape Hunt. Have a great Wednesday. I can’t wait to see all the Coolcat Bobcats on Thursday morning. We have added a new link on our website. Be sure to check out: Read Alouds with Mrs. Buckley. Your children can join Mrs. Buckley on Wally’s adventures.
I am loving our daily math meetings. Beginning tomorrow I will not be loading onto SeeSaw any of the Math Boxes or Home Links. You have two options for this work: if you are at my math meeting we will do these together. If you are not able to attend our math meetings there will be a downloadable file. I have uploaded today’s assignments. With Math we will continue to focus on fractions. With Wonders we continue looking at Main Idea and Key Details. Later on today I will upload tomorrow’s assignments also. Thank you for your flexibility with this - - I really appreciate it. Happy Monday –
I hope you had a wonderful weekend - - Saturday and Sunday were gorgeous! This wee our Essential Question is: How do things get built? There are fun building STEM activities this week. Our phonics will look at more diphthongs: oi, oy. As with last week – these are tricky. Please help your child to spot these words and recognize these new sounds. Our spelling words are: spoil, coin, join, joy, toy, boy. The Sight Words are: build, fall, above, knew, money, toward. We will continue working with fractions - - this week looking at what a fourth means. We will also be exploring 3D shapes. ***I will not be available on Wednesday due to a sudden death in my family. As a result of this I will be loading Wednesday’s assignments tomorrow. You will see Tuesday and Wednesday’s assignments when you open up Weebly and SeeSaw tomorrow. There will not be a Math Meeting on Wednesday morning. For Reading Groups - - Mrs. Delisle and Mrs. Buckley will still be working with their groups. My Reading Group will not be meeting. You will be following a different assignment that will get you ready for our usual meeting on Thursday. Mrs. Buckley will be available on Wednesday if you have any questions. Her email address is: [email protected] Thank you for all of your help, patience, and understanding over these last seven weeks. Mrs. Buckley and I are so appreciative! Happy Thursday
We will continue our investigation with Sound. Enjoy the activities through Scholastic today. We have been doing many Zoom meetings. It is wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm during these meetings. Listed below are some reminders that will help to make our meetings even more successful. Could you please go over these with your children? THANKS!!!
Happy Wednesday –
You will be doing your Wonders activity during your Reading Group at 10:30. Math - join me at 9:00 to learn more about fractions. Work will be completed with me. (Math Boxes, Home Link, Brainpop video, another fractions song, Partitioning Crackers Lesson 8-2. Science – have you ever wondered how sounds are made in cartoons? Today you will become a Sound Effects Artist. Mystery Doug has a fun activity for you today and it’s a perfect connection to the “wet” weather we have had recently. You’re going to have so much fun learning about vibrations and sound. Have a great day! Happy Tuesday –
Today’s assignments have been posted. We will be talking fractions today (one of my favorite math concepts to teach). If you attend the 9:00 Zoom session we will be reading the book, watching a song video, and completing the worksheet together. With Wonders we are focusing on the Problem/Solution in a story. Whistle for Willie is a cute story that ties in nicely with our investigation with sound as well as the diphthongs ou/ow. There is an additional (optional)practice with Problem/Solution listed in SeeSaw as well as a downloadable link. Have a great day. Happy (rainy and cold) Monday –
I hope you had a wonderful weekend - - at least Saturday was beautiful. This week with our Wonders program we will be learning about the diphthongs ou/ow (two vowels together that make a new sound). These are very tricky. Be on the lookout for these words as our Wonders activities look into “sound”. We will be looking at 2D shapes and fractions this week with our Everyday Math program. Planning ahead: Poetry project due by Wednesday No School on Friday As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns. Have a great day - - |
