Wonders: This week we continue to explore the concept of working together. This week’s essential question is: Who helps you? Today’s Skills: Identifying the Author’s Message (This is like THEME, except for non-fiction) Reading and spelling words with the letters a, aw, au, augh, and al Words to Know: brother, father, friend, love, mother, picture READ: All Kinds of Helpers Click on the book All Kinds of Helpers. Before you read, click on the arrow on the left side of the screen to check out the Phonics/Fluency pages (240-241) Click on the speakers to listen to information about the spelling patterns. Look for words with these patterns as you read All Kinds of Helpers. You can listen to it being read, or try reading it independently. After Reading: Go to pages 252-253 to review our comprehension strategy: Author’s Message TO DO: Community Helpers of the Future - assignment on SeeSaw Journal: Due on Wednesday, May 20th. Think about the activity you did for Community Helpers of the Future. Write four or more sentences describing the Community Helper you chose. What do they do? What do they need to do their job? Most importantly, why would you like this job? Everyday Math Lesson 8-10 Today’s Skill: Review place-value patterns in the number grid and use them to solve number-grid puzzles. (Connection to Scroll activity in classroom). Refer to the 120 Grid (located in Enrichment-Math Tools) to help you with completing the Math Boxes (Number-Grid Puzzles). Reminder: when you go across the row - you are adding/subtracting by 1’s.
