Your children were amazing at the Community Meeting. So many teachers and students came up to us to compliment your children on their performance. This week with our Wonders program we will focus on the Essential Question of: What inventions do you know about? We will read and learn about various inventors and inventions. Our phonics will continue with more r-controlled vowels: or, ore, oar Our spelling words are: born, corn, core, more, roar, soar Our Sight Words are: learn, sure - - with exposure to: began, better, guess, right. Our grammar focus will be adjectives that compare (er, est). This week we will be writing our Research Reports on various New Hampshire Animals. Last Thursday and Friday we were so fortunate to have a visit from Mrs. Makowiecki, an expert on New Hampshire wildlife, and four sixth grade students. We viewed an outstanding PowerPoint that the Sixth Grade students had prepared for us giving us so many facts about these animals. The next day they returned with even more information - - plus skulls and pelts. Mrs. Makowiecki is well-known throughout the state and gets calls when animal carcasses have been found. A huge thank you to the Bradley family for also providing pelts. This hands-on, enrichment opportunity was amazing! We will be reviewing clocks and fractions this week. We love fractions – ask your child to fill you in on these wonderful math concepts.
