This week will be a review and assessment week for us. Our spelling words will be some of the tricky Sight Words:
was, from, some, why, today, all, when, what We had a fun day celebrating the 100th day of school. We are more than halfway through the year. The time has flown by so quickly. Thursday will be a very busy day for us. We start the day with our Friendship Brunch and end the day with Jump Rope for Heart. Remember to send your child to school with sneakers on Thursday. We will be doing lots and lots of movement activities in the gymnasium. On Friday we will focus on two important presidents as we celebrate Presidents’ Day: George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We will share our projects with our Reading Buddies. Did your child tell you about our “surprise” Fire Drill on Friday? The drill caught us off guard (which is the plan because you just can’t predict emergencies). Some of us had a hard time remembering our procedures and the importance of practicing Fire Drills - - TO KEEP US SAFE IN CASE OF A REAL EMERGENCY. What does safe look like? Quietly lining up at our back classroom door. Quietly walking outside to the front of the building. Quietly standing still and listening for me to call your name to insure that everyone has left the school safely. And, quietly remaining in line until we are given permission to return to the school. After we came back inside, we practiced this important drill again. The results: amazing! I knew we could do it!
